Description | The national infrastructure C4SYSBIO- Centre for Systems Biology that has the ambition to concentrate the knowledge potential in the field of systems biology in the Czech Republic and to connect the diverted systems biology research at the Academy of Sciences and various universities in the Czech Republic to the european infrastructure ESFRI-ISBE. The infrastructure was founded in 2009 as a divison of the former Institute of Systems Biology and Ecology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v.v.i., and became part of the Czech roadmap as a promising project in the 2010 update, and a high-priority project in the 2011 update. The infrastructure C4SYSBIO is as a divison of the Institute of Nanobiology and Structural Biology of the Global Change Research Center, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. C4SYSBIO is being prepared and will be implemented in the context of the Europe-wide project ESFRI Infrastructure for Systems Biology Europe (ISBE) which comprises an infrastructure that is designed to meet the needs of European Systems Biology, both in terms of development, applications and training. Systems Biology requires the availability, co-ordination and simultaneous interaction of a large number of multiple and diverse facilities and activities. These range from mathematical and formal modelling to biological and clinical experiments, to technology development. In order to address this requirement, ISBE is proposed as a distributed, interconnected infrastructure which primarily comprises three types of centres: Data Integration Centres (DICs), Data Generation Centres (DGCs), and Data Stewardship Centres (DSCs). |
