Description | The X-ray center was established in mid-2010 as the central institution of the Technical University of Vienna for material characterization by X-ray diffraction methods. The laboratory is situated in the center of Vienna within the chemistry and engineering campus "Getreidemarkt", renewed under the Infrastructure project TU University 2015. The lab was initially equiped with existing diffraction instruments from the different institutions of the Vienna University of Technology. Supported by a project of the BM.W_f Uniinfra IV, with funds from the University of Infrastructure Programme (UIP) of the City of Vienna and with funds of the Vienna University of Technology, the lab could be additionally equipped with modern diffractometers and X-ray fluorescence instruments. The capabilities of the laboratory are easily accessible to institutes of the Vienna University of Technology as the first point of call for questions related to material characterization in the fields of: qualitative and quantitative phase analysis, X-ray diffraction based stress/strain and texture analysis, single-crystal structure analysis, elemental Analysis. Apart from its own institutions, the lab is also accessible to other labs, universities and companies. |
