Marine Science and Technology Park, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Description The Marine Science and Technology Park (PCTM) of ULPGC is an important scientific space of Gran Canaria (Canary Islands), where a complex of excellence infrastructures in Marine Sciences is located, with special focus on fish aquaculture RTD (mainly nutrition, pathology, new species and genetics) Applied Biotechnology (Primary Sector waste Reutilization) and Biobanks of Microalgae and Cianobacteria. The PCTM is considered a top class research infrastructure since it is attached to the pan-European network of aquaculture research facilities, AQUAEXCEL (www.aquaexcel.eu). Hence, PCTM offers instrastructures to the research community for both basic and applied research in the fields of Aquaculture and Biotechnology, providing at the same time with the neccesary conditions for Technology Transfer Activities with the related industry. The PCTM is made up of the following units: Warm Water Species Selection Unit (WWSSU); Marine Biosecurity Station (MBS); Feed Ingredients-additives Testing Unit (FITU); Pilot Plant for Fingerling Production (PPPA); Biofactory of Natural Marine Products; Spanish Bank of Algae (BEA)
