| Description | The Laboratory for Intense Lasers (L2I) is the largest laser laboratory in Portugal. It hosting a 15 terawatt Ti:sapphire-Nd:glass laser system providing 6 Joule, 400 femtosecond pulses for laser-plasma interaction experiments. L2I is managed and operated by the Laser and Plasma Group of IPFN - Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion, a research unit of Instituto Superior Técnico. The facility is operational since 1998. The research has been funded by national (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) and european programs, e.g. Laserlab-Europe (FP7), ELI (ESFRI), HiPER (ESFRI), TUIXS (FP6 NEST). |
