| Description | Instruct is the dynamic hub of structural biology providing an integrated infrastructure of cutting-edge technology, scientific expertise and pioneering training. We aim to provide strategic leadership for structural biology in Europe by promoting an integrated approach to technology and methodologies. We are making this happen in a number of ways. We provide structural and cell biologists from both industry and academia the opportunity to further their research with cutting-edge technologies sited at Instruct Centres across Europe. A simple, transparent peer reviewed process will allocate access based on merit and scientific priorities. The expert support and training available through Instruct ensures research is productive and that technology is used to optimal effect. This will include training in the use of the technology platform itself. Our workshops, conferences, secondments, PhD programme and fellowships, in partnership with world-leading companies, all focus on promoting and developing innovative, integrated approaches to structural biology. We work with the companies that manufacture the machines used by structural and cell biologists. We help them to develop, test and optimise new technologies that will spur breakthroughs in biology. We also provide funding for academic pilot projects in this field. We are fostering the sharing of ideas and resources through the Instruct Hub; a thriving online community of researchers from across Europe and beyond who share a passion for pushing the boundaries of existing scientific disciplines and expertise. Instruct is part of the European Strategy for Research Infrastructure (ESFRI) roadmap. We are working to be a voice for structural biology and to ensure sufficient future investment in infrastructure. |
